The Cross Country Rentals Story

New Zealand might not be the largest country in the world, but it’s big on heart, and big on people. That’s why it’s so important that everyone has the ability to connect with each other, even if they don’t have their own vehicle.

That’s where Cross Country Rentals comes in.

The Cross Country Rentals story starts way back in 1924 when our parent company, Tranzit Group, launched its very first school bus run in the Wairarapa. Fast-forward a few years to 2010 when Tranzit purchased Masterton-based Cross Country Rentals, and now we operate a modern fleet of several hundred rental vehicles including cars, 4WD utes, vans, mini buses, people movers, trucks and trailers, right across New Zealand.

Connecting people is what we do best. In 2012 we were privileged to partner with Special Education School Transport Assistance (SESTA) in getting some very cool kids to and from school every day. The following year we kicked into growth mode, opening branches in Palmerston North and Whanganui, increasing our coverage and servicing our clients closer to home. We opened another rentals branch in New Plymouth in 2014, and the following year we bought a rentals company based in Hamilton – coincidentally with the same name! In 2016 we expanded our SESTA reach, and now we transport hundreds of Kiwi kids to and from school in Tauranga and Central Auckland too.

Cross Country Rentals is big on family and community. We’re honest, trustworthy and no-fuss, which means when you deal with us we guarantee you’ll receive the best service – and always with a smile.
